Funky Space from Bequeathed Property
The Stowaway Society focuses not only on creating housing opportunities for creatives but also preserving and expanding our communities working environments and play spaces for our creatives to grow themselves and others within. Space, one of our most limited yet fundamentally important commodities, is the essential ingredient vital to our diverse people and creative economy. We seek multi-purpose properties where we can create live-work environments and self sustaining economies that enrich our community. At present, we are working with our legal team to create a division focused on the bequeathing of properties for public purpose acting as a Community Land Trust.
Resource Sharing and Events Database to support business retention and expansion
We are creating a collaborative “craigslist"-style” database of various safe spaces like galleries, retail shops, studio spaces, supplies and housing for our creatives as well as for economic development purposes but we have only just begun. Ideally, it would also include a calendar where all events and classes in town could be viewed day-to-day to help stimulate participation from tourists.
If you are interested in partnering with the Stowaway Society or know of someone who could be a great resource for us, please reach out to Steven Azar at (857) 998-2378.
Art Collabs
We are on the lookout for any artists or individuals who would like to donate work for us to put up for auction. We would in exchange market the artist on multiple platforms and proceeds would go to supporting other artists partake in the initiatives.
Marketplace for artists and makers
One of the Stowaway Society’s goals is to market and provide business development trainings for our creatives to get them to their next level. To kickstart this goal, we are currently displaying works of art at the Stowaway Guesthouse that are for sale and we intend, as we grow, to continue to expand our gallery space to Commercial Street and on a digital platform. The Treadwell Gallery has so far filled this niche for our residents quite well in 2021- thank you for showing Sam Waxman and Andrew Sedwick Guth, Shann! We would not have had the incredible outcomes for our residents without you.
